Leslie Ferrin

Caroline Slotte lives and works in Helsinki, Finland and holds a masters degree from Bergen Academy of Art and Design, Norway. The reworking of second hand objects play a pivotal role in Slotte’s practice.

“At Project Art I will present my own studio practice as well as give an overview of contemporary Scandinavian ceramics focusing on Nordic Ceramic Networkings – a recently established artist led collaboration aiming to vitalize the Nordic ceramic art scene and create a professional platform for dialogue and exchange. The network consists of 10 internationally established ceramic artists based in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.” — Caroline Slotte

Coming up, Caroline’s work, represented by Ferrin Conteporary, will be on view in the USA as a part of the exhibition “At Your Service” at the Bellevue Arts Museum, Bellevue, Washington, February 14th – September 21st:  Objects of daily use often become intimately important and indispensable to people. Aside from their utility, such objects can be seen as representations of their owners or even extensions of the self. This kind of sentiment applies to a wide range of possible possessions including the seemingly humble and utilitarian plate. In “At Your Service” ten artists come together to encourage the viewer to consider and question the significance and wider implications of this common household item.

Ferrin Contemporary specializes in ceramic art produced circa 1950 to the present.  For more than thirty years, collectors, institutions, and the media have made Ferrin Contemporary their preferred source for artwork by established and emerging artists and designers whose primary medium is clay.

Based in the Berkshires of Massachusetts, Ferrin Contemporary maintains exhibition space, business office, library, and art warehouse at Project Art, an artist residence in a renovated, 19th-century mill building in Cummington, Mass. The exhibition space features artworks from current projects and artists engaged in our international program for visiting artists and professionals. Programs include presentations at art, design, and antiques fairs; partnerships with commercial galleries; and support for artists at museum venues.  Leslie Ferrin, along with a team of art professionals, provides services to private collectors and project and career management to artists.  For more general information, please visit:
