Project Art Virtual Studio

The Project Art Virtual Studio launches with live and recorded online programming in 2021 beginning with Sergei Isupov, Mark Shapiro and Beckie Kravetz through Teachable.com. Beginning with live demonstrations via Zoom, these and other artists will be offering pre-recorded video instruction, mentoring and studio tours. Our shift to online programming was made possible through a micro-enterprise grant from Hilltown CDC enabling us to equip the studio and provide technical support.

Below are the first three courses offered through the Virtual Studio, with links to sign up at Teachable.com.

The Thing About Cups–March 2021

The cup is perhaps the most basic vessel. Our bodies demand hydration even more than nutrition. This essential deliverer of liquid offers practically infinite ceramic variation and magnificent opportunities for individual expression. Not surprisingly, it’s usually the first pot that potters learn to make and the first pot that attracts a customer.

In this jam-packed mini workshop, Mark Shapiro will demonstrate a series of approaches to this essential form, including faceted porcelain and rope-inlayed teacups, footed chalices, and water “glasses,” including his signature surface treatments.

The demonstration will take place on Zoom. Participation will be limited to 50 attendees.  A link will be sent out to participants after they have registered and purchased a ticket.

The livestream demonstration will be held on Saturday March 13, 2021 at 2 p.m. EST (New York).   To find the corresponding time in your city, please check this world clock website.

The demo will be recorded, and the video will be available at no charge to any students who were enrolled in the class.  The video will be available for purchase to those who were not enrolled.
