Weekend Demonstration Workshop: November 2nd–3rd, 2019

Join internationally acclaimed sculptor Sergei Isupov for a demonstration workshop exploring the sculpted figure in clay, the painted surface and artistic practice from ideation to materialization. Demonstration workshops are open to all regardless of work experience with clay. Limited to 20.

At Project Art, in rural Massachusetts, the demonstration workshop takes place over two days and includes an evening illustrated lecture. Optional add-ons, pre or post workshop, provide the opportunity to explore area museums, select studios and nearby natural settings. In the demonstrations, Isupov will lead students through the techniques of slab construction, underglaze painting, and glaze application with the goal of completing one or more figurative sculptures. The workshop takes place in the airy, shared studio space at Project Art, a renovated 19th century Mill on the banks of the Westfield River.

The weekend workshops run Saturday-Sunday with an evening illustrated lecture for participants If desired, participants are invited to schedule a 30 minute portfolio review with Isupov and gallery director, Leslie Ferrin on a first come, first serve basis for an additional fee of $50.

Tuition and Payment

Tuition for the weekend demonstration workshop is $350, and includes the Saturday evening meal. The workshop will run Saturday 9am–4pm, with a group dinner & illustrated lecture following from 6pm–8pm. The workshop ends on Sunday 9am–2pm.

A $50 non-refundable deposit is due with registration. Full payment is due 30 days before the start date. Payment can be made via paypal (info@projectart01026.com), or check or money order payable to Project Art, mailed to 54 Main Street in Cummington, MA, 01026.

Cancellation Policy

Payments are refundable until 30 days prior to the start date, less the non refundable $50 administrative fee. After that date, we do not offer a refund unless we are able to fill your slot with a participant from the waiting list. If we are able to replace you with a participant from the waiting list, a full refund may be issued, less a $50 administrative fee.

Housing

Housing is not provided. It is the responsibility of each student to arrange housing independently. We keep a list of possible housing options updated at LODGING

Meals

Participants are invited to bring snacks and lunches that can be stored in a shared refrigerator and heated up via a microwave.  Prepared food basics are available for purchase nearby at The Old Creamery.

Location and Dates

Project Art is located at 54 Main Street in Cummington, MA, 01026. The registration form will list the exact start date/time and end date/time.

Travel

Hartford, CT (airport code BDL) and Albany, NY (airport code ALB) are the two closest regional airports. Cummington is a rural community, and we recommend participants rent a car or drive their own. There is no public transportation in the Cummington area.  With advance notice, pick up and drop off to the airport can be arranged for $100 per airport pick up (each way).
