Join us in for a party celebrating the Hilltown6 Pottery Tour and benefiting Studio Potter journal at Project Art, in Cummington, Massachusetts. The evening will showcase local ceramics, food, beverages, and music along the idyllic banks of the Westfield River.

is a non-profit organization celebrating more than forty years of commitment to the publication of the Studio Potter journal, published in January and July of each year with offices based in Easthampton, Massachusetts. THE EVENT:
Join us in a party in anticipation of the Hilltown6 Pottery Tour. The evening will focus on ceramics, local food and drink tasters along the idyllic banks of the Westfield River. In addition to getting your fill of hops and pots, participate in the pottery focused podcast, The Jones Cast whose host will be on site and recording during the event, enjoy live music, win one of several raffles, and cozy up to our bonfire as the night closes.

Michael Simon is offering a select group of cups from his personal collection for the benefit event. This is an outstanding opportunity to purchase cups that Simon considers among the best produced in the span of his career and will only be available as in-person sales during HOPS+POTS and the Summer Open House. With GrowlerFest founders Brad Klem and Alexandra Jelleberg

On both Saturday and Sunday at 4pm

OPEN STUDIOS:
Guest artists Brad Klem and Brian R. Jones join resident artists Alexandra Jelleberg, Jessica Detweiler, Sergei Isupov, Kadri Pärnamets, and Paul Scott in the studios.

Brian R. Jones, recently moved from Portland, OR to the Albany, NY area.  A studio potter who is also well known for his podcast the Jonescast, Brian will be showing recent works from the new studio. Brian will also be recording short interviews with visiting artists, neighbors and pottery collectors. His studio assistant, Aleka Tomlinson, will also be joining the group for the weekend.

Bradley Klem, a former visiting artist returns with hand made growlers and functional ceramics he has been producing while completing his MFA at Penn State University.

PROJECT ART supports and promotes local and international ceramic art and artists through artist residencies, studio rentals, events, and exhibitions.

 

 

 

SUMMER GALLERY exhibiting selected works from ongoing projects by represented artists on view throughout the summer and fall.

AMERICAN STUDIO POTTERY from private collections by various artists 1970–2000 are available for sale with a portion of the sales on the night of the HOPS+POTS event going to benefit the Studio Potter.  A special selection of cups by Michael Simon are available first come basis.

Spring 2017 Open House

SPRING OPEN HOUSE
AND SALE

2–6 pm Saturday, May 13, 2017

You’re invited to the mill — visit the artists, tour the studios, and stroll through the summer gallery. The studios of current resident artists Paul Scott, Alexandra Jelleberg, and Jess Detweiler will be open to the public.

Small works by Sergei Isupov, Kadri Pärnamets, their daughter, Roosi, as well as the resident artists will be available for sale. Recent consignments from private collections of American Studio Pottery and Ceramic Art 1960–2000 will be available for sale by Ferrin Contemporary in the summer gallery, including works by Karen Karnes, Linda Sikora, Michael Simon, Matthew Metz.

This event is free and open to the public.

Project Art 2016 Open House

Project Art will be hosting an Open House
Sat & Sun, July 23 & 24, 2016 10 am – 5 pm
in conjunction with the
Hilltown 6 Pottery Tour

Join Artist-in-residence and Director Alexandra Jelleberg, as she invites special guest Mara Superior to show her signature porcelain pieces at Project Art.

Tour the studios and see recent works by Sergei Isupov, Kadri Pärnamets, and Paul Scott, as well as watercolor paintings by June Ferrin and selected works from Ferrin Contemporary’s recent exhibitions that include: Bouke de Vries, Stephen Young Lee, Peter Pincus, Vipoo Srivilasa, & Kurt Weiser.

Last but not least, along with friend Bradley Klem, Alex is the Founding Director of GrowlerFest , and will have Growlers and small works by the 2015 participants including Justin Rothshank, who will be having a duo show this fall with his wife Brooke at Ferrin Contemporary.

Ferrin Contemporary artist Mara Superior will be our guest this weekend. She will be presenting her recent work that includes salt-fired porcelain pieces pulled from a wood-fire kiln.
