Known for detailed works in porcelain, she will be introducing “The Pollinators”, a new series on a range of forms that feature birds, bees and the plants they support. Represented by Ferrin Contemporary, her work can be seen at Project Art and in selected exhibitions at the gallery’s North Adams location in Building 13 on the MASS MoCA campus. LILY FEIN is the newest resident artist at Project Art. Arriving in January of 2019, since her graduation from Syracuse with a BFA in ceramics in 2016, she has been traveling and working in residency programs including the Archie Bray Foundation, Helena, MT; Northern Clay Center, Minneapolis, MN; Craigardan in Upstate New York; The Society of Arts and Crafts in Boston, MA and Japan. She employs simple hand building techniques of pinch and coil to make utilitarian pots and sculptural vessels using the most challenging of clay bodies, porcelain. Her time at Project Art has focused on developing a body of new forms that morph and change, and curve and twist with unexpected interruptions and intersections. Her work invites and encourages touch with soft surfaces that reveal the imprint of her fingers on shapely, pleasing, delicate shapes. When not working in clay Lily enjoys dipping in creek beds (including the Westfield River) and playing in her band, The Glue.

FREE PUBLIC TALK | LAUREN MABRY | May 2019

Free Artist Lecture
Friday, May 3rd, 2019, 7 pm at
Project Art, 54 Main Street, Cummington, MA 01026

Join us at Project Art for a slideshow presentation by Lauren Mabry, whose solo exhibition Fused opens at Ferrin Contemporary in North Adams, MA on Saturday, May 4, 2019.

Fused introduces Mabry’s new series of ‘dimensional paintings’ using color, form and an exuberant sense of play to explore transformative nature of clay. Drips, spills and dollops of brightly colored glaze move across her forms, with a precise sense of chaos. The titled, Fused, eludes to the melted surface created within the kiln. This magical moment is something that Mabry is able to hold to within her glaze work, as if she’s able to slow down time itself.

“Because I strive to keep my work as playful as it is scientific, the things I make exist
where haphazard sketching meets the precision of chemistry.” — Lauren Mabry

A Gallery Talk and Reception will take place Saturday, May 4th, from 5–7pm at Ferrin Contemporary in North Adams, MA. A group dinner will follow at Bright Ideas Brewery & A-OK Berkshire BBQ.

About GrowlerFest At The Brew House Association
GrowlerFest at the Brew House Association, connects artists to the craft beer movement, showcasing ties between food, beer and ceramics. It’s goal is to link craft breweries and the vitality of handmade pottery. GrowlerFest 2018 pairs invited Artists with an Open Call for beer growlers, jugs, and other containers used for storing or serving beer. Curated by Alexandra Jelleberg & Bradley Klem, the exhibition will be on view March 2-29, 2018 in the Brew House Association’s Gallery.

GrowlerFest Concept
GrowlerFest connects artists to the craft beer movement by showcasing the ties between local food, craft beer, and ceramics. It’s goal is to create a “cross current” link between the craft brewery movement and the vitality of handmade pottery. Through the intersection of collaboration and individual aesthetic, we hope to spark investment in handmade objects among a group of people who share a common interest. The enjoyment of food and drink can be greatly enriched by the experience of using the beautiful work artists so thoughtfully produce.GrowlerFest is partnering with the Brew House Association (BHA), which provides a wide range collaborative spaces, programs, and people in order to encourage the pursuit of artistic excellence. The BHA has emerged as a place where code writers mix with sculptors, artists evolve into entrepreneurs, and citizens from Pittsburgh’s South Side, Hilltop, and Mon Valley come to be creative. A former brewery located near Pittsburgh’s cultural district, it presents the perfect location for an exhibition centering on its historical purpose and contemporary identity. The exhibition will be comprised of two components, one being juried growlers from artists who answer an open call for entry, and another being growlers made by an invited list of artists. We will pair these two components in order to create a multi-faceted exhibition which fosters a particular aesthetic while sparking interest in the growler as a form. The events will feature beer tasting and local food and will be free and open to the public during the NCECA Conference. The public is invited to an exhibition and social gatherings centering on the beer growler.

NCECA VENDOR SPONSORED EXHIBITION
During this national ceramics conference, March 14-17th, 2018, GrowlerFest will be at the Brewhouse Association, located at

711 South 21st St., Pittsburgh, PA, 412-381-2000. Open hours will be extended during the conference: Tue-Sat 11am-2pm, Saturdays 11am-2:30pm, or by appointment (10am-5pm).

A Special Reception & Beer Mixer will happen at the Brew House Association during the NCECA conference on Friday, March 16th 6-10pm. The exhibition entry is free and VIP ticketsare $25 at the door, $20 in advance and includes a select draft pour & bar snacks, a special VIP tour of “The SpeakEasy Loft” with views of the Pittsburgh skyline, access to “The Distillery” with resident artist studios, & a raffle ticket for a chance to win one of several prizes. All proceeds from the event go towards supporting Brew House Association arts programming.A Public Reception will be held Friday, Mar 16, from 6-10pm, with local beer & food tasters.

Project Art (Cummington, MA) is partnering with artist Bradley Klem (Phoenix, AZ),The Eutectic Gallery (Portland, OR) and Portland Growler Company (Portland, OR) to bring GrowlerFest 2015 East + West to the East and West Coasts for the first time. All proceeds go to support resident artist programs at Project Art in Cummington & the Eutectic Gallery.

Project coordinators Alexandra Jelleberg and Bradley Klem’s aim is to create a narrative about the link between the craft brewery movement and the vitality of handmade pottery:

Through the intersection of collaboration and individual aesthetic, we hope to spark investment in handmade objects among a group of people who share a common interest. The enjoyment of food and drink can be greatly enriched by the experience of using the beautiful work artists so thoughtfully produce.

GrowlerFest East + West connects artists working in disparate ways and faraway places to both each other and the craft beer movement by offering the surface of a growler as a way to collaborate with one another, and an exhibition with functional and decorative components to draw parallels and comparisons in form, style, design and philosophy between local and global ceramic artists.
